Limnos Eiland. Stap.

6 Augustus 2019. Dinsdag.

Ons maak toe sommer so.

  1. Have just caught up with your last number of days. The Portas bridge was a challenge - how much space did you have to spare between the mast and the bridge? Is there any tide to help you in those parts? Must have been quite scary when you picked up that piece of plastic. Congrats on your 7.6k speed - practicing for the America's cup? Is doesn't seem too bad being stuck in Myrina - looks like a beautiful island. And those views from the castle are stunning! Is it the wind keeping you there?
Wishing you all the best and happy sailing!!!

  2. Portas Bridge probably looked worse than it actually was - very difficult to get a perspective from the deck - but Marietjie's voice went up a couple of octaves as we went through. I reckon we probably had about a meter of clearance.
The wind is very problematic and we are going to be stuck here in Limnos for at least until Wednesday 15th. The wind strength is such that there is no clear call on whether to stay or go. If the next crossing was shorter, instead of 55 miles, we would probably have left on Friday 9th.
    Regards
