Ag. Ioannou tot O. Isidoro |
Na ons terleurstellende
braaivleis, is ons vandag op pad na Isidoro Baai, 38°21.725 N, 22°37.245 O, 23.1 myl
om te gaan.
Dis ’n grou Maandag. Die dag is
dof en deinserig. Ek verlang vandag huis toe. Na my mense, my kombuis, my tuin,
my toilet, my stort. (Ek dink dit is daai braaivleis se skuld.)
Ons pak die langpad, groupad,
bloupad aan. Dis bedompig warm. Alles word in ’n deinserigheid weggesteek.
Berge en grysheid word een. Ek voel so alleen.
Groupad, bloupad |

Description
Cotylorhiza tuberculata is
a species of jellyfish,
also known as the Mediterranean jelly or Fried egg jellyfish. Commonly found in the Mediterranean
Sea, Aegean
Sea and Adriatic Sea it can reach up to 35 cm in diameter. It
seems that this jellyfish's sting has very little or no effect on humans but it is better not to touch it and it is probably harmless
also for most fishes. Just as for Rhizostoma, it is
often associated to young fish that use it as a shelter. It is an endangered species.
Identification
One of the most beautiful jellyfish of the Mediterranean Sea. The umbrella can measure 35 cm in diameter. It is very rigid and roundish in its centre, where it has a reddish or yellow color. The external part of the manubrium is motile and pulsates vigorously. Under the umbrella, the manubrium resembles a bouquet of flowers, with blue-purple buttons, inserted into stout arms. Some tentacles, also terminating with blue buttons, are inserted on the manubrium. Cotylorhiza can have symbiotic microalgae that live in its tissues, just as those of tropical corals. Functionally it is a “plant”, even if it can feed on zooplankton.
Ek weet nie mooi van bedreigde spesie
nie, want hier is honderde in die water.
